Friday Finds- Leather

Happy Friday everyone. For this Friday's finds, the focus is leather for fall. I will be focusing on fall trends in my future posts. Then, you will have time to find these trends in your price point and a few thrifters may even get lucky enough at the thrift store. I actually came across this dress on my husband and I 's past trip to Indianapolis. It is designed by Max Studio and was in the clearance for $20.00 at Marshall's. I took it over to my husband to ask if he liked it and he said,"the 80's are calling". I told him this leather dress would be great for the fall and he says, "alright Pat Benatar."  So, I knew this dress was for for me, who doesn't love to have that LBD on hand.

Drop it like it's ....

Happy Wednesday. Well, it's hot lately, but I love it. This past Monday, I was able to have breakfast with two of my friends. I was happy to have a reason to get dressed. It seems in the summer if I am not in my bathing suit at the pool, I am wearing lounge wear. So, for breakfast I wore this F21 Drop Waist Dress. The best thing about summer weather is having the ability to throw on a dress and some shoes and go.  I purchased this dress online and one thing I appreciate offered by online stores are giving the models height with each piece of merchandise. The model that had this dress on was 5 10'. I am 5 '4 and when I saw that his dress was barely below her model's back area, then I knew for me it would be right above my knee. Turned out to be perfect!

Put a little muscle into it

Hello everyone. I hope you had a great weekend. I have two loves in this post. One is this Leigh Foil Muscle shirt  from Nordstrom. I think this would be a great DIY to complete, the only tip I would give is get a smaller shirt. I was drawn to the silver flecks in this shirt. The second love in this post are my leather wrap around bracelets. I can't get enough of them. They are a great accessory for the summer and are available at all price ranges.

The "short" version

Hot temperatures means bringing out and buying shorts. Deciding on which length of shorts that are right for you can be difficult. Growing up, the rule for shorts was when your hands are down by your sides, your fingertips need to be longer than your shorts. My only problem with this rule is what if you have longer legs or arms, then this rule doesn't work. I think when picking your shorts it's about personal preference and good sense. Obviously, if your hind part is hanging out when you bend over or stand up, then they are to short. One style of shorts that I think that work well on many body types are the "boyfriend" short. This style gives some flexibility because you can roll these shorts up and adjust the length.

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend. The weather was fabulous for our sporting events. I must say I am glad things will be slowing down. I will actually be able to check out some of my favorite blogs. I wanted to share on today's post my love for Target's Sam & Libby shoe collaboration. I am pleasantly surprised, because I haven't seen Sam & Libby for years. To be honest I haven't been wowed by Target's spring shoe selection until now. This collection has a great price point of less than $35.00. There are so many choices to pick from. The one's that I fancied were these strappy Kylie sandal that have a cork material detail and stud embellishment that gives it just a little edge.

If the shoe fits.....

Happy Wednesday. These weeks are flying by and the summer is creeping up. I can' t wait for the summer. I am making a vow to get back to my DIY's , I just haven't had time lately.This past weekend, I did a little shopping and hopped into the Gap.  I came across this fabulous sweater and mohair flats. I always love a good sale, especially if I have been eyeing the item for a while. A lot of stores have an extra percentage off sale to get rid of the spring merchandise, so it's a great time to shop. ( actually, it's always is a good time.) I thought since on Monday's post  I talked about different departments that I shop in, I thought this one I would talk about shoes in the kids department. I generally where a 6 or 6 1/2 and in the children's section this equates to a 4 or 4 1/2. The kids department shoes generally go to a 6 which is an 8 in adults. So, ladies sometimes looking in the children section is a great alternative for a brand that can be found in kids and adults sections.

 Hello everyone, I hope you had a fabulous weekend. My mother's day weekend included a little shopping and dinner with my friend Molly on Friday. Saturday, I went to one of my annual garage sales and got some great finds. Lastly, on Sunday I slept in, and finally watch Silver Linings Playbook.
 For this post, these days I am all about style and comfort. These Mimi Chica pants serve very well  for both of these purposes. These pants are from the juniors section at Nordstrom. I think most junior size clothing could fit many women. So, what are some of the differences between juniors and the women's sections. Juniors tend to offer more clothing on trend, straighter cuts, more form fitting clothing, and sizing tends to be in odd numbers like 1, 3, etc. Women's sections are more classic styles, cuts can be different in hips and bust, and sizes are even numbers like 0, 2,4, etc. If I am looking for something on trend, I generally can find it at a cheaper price than in the women's section, this is especially true for accessories.

Hello 80 degrees and happy Wednesday! This week is a busy one, so this post won't be a long one. Because of the gorgeous weather I decided to wear my citron Forever 21 top. One detail that I loved about the shirt is the back. This is the only item in my closet that has a cut out back, it was stepping out of my comfort zone. Also, I am sporting my Forever 21 acid wash jeans. I prefer the black acid wash it doesn't seem to shout "I love the 80's" (even though I do!)

Something Comparable

 

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I have a few topics to discuss in this post. In this post, I am wearing my BCBG black pumps I recently thrifted. Lately, I find myself  more attracted to very pointed pumps. Some of my friends have asked me how I clean my shoes that I get from the thrift store. First, I use a Clorox wipe to wipe them inside and out. Then, I use Lysol and spray the inside of the shoes.  When I buy thrifted shoes I try to buy new or almost new shoes. You would be amazed at what people donate just to get stuff out of their house to get organized.
My second topic to discuss are where to find a comparable piece to that a high end piece you are dying for. Two sites I like to use are Polyvore  and Shopstyle. These sites will give you many options from multiple stores for the item you are looking for. One option I found was my Forever 21 lace shirt I am wearing in this post.

Adding a little oomph

 I hope everyone is having a great week and now it's even closer to the weekend. For this post, to add a little oomph to my Forever 21 Maxi dress by layering it with my Forever 21 citron faux leather jacket. The temperatures have been a little inconsistent to start off the spring, so this jacket was a great option with this dress. I would call myself a little of a weather "freak". I check my weather app at least a couple times a day, because I want me and my kids to be dress (weather temps) appropriately. This spring there are so many great colored leather or faux leather jackets at some really great price points. I plan on using this jacket for many seasons. Besides the fabulous color, other details I love about this jacket are the quilted pattern and zipper embellishments.

Feels Like a Maxi Monday

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine went by so fast that I am not sure I really had one. So, when I woke up this morning it felt like a Maxi Monday. A maxi skirt is one of my go to pieces when the weather gets warm. It is comfortable and stylish. I think the maxi skirt looks great on all body types. One detail that is important to me when I am purchasing a maxi is its length. I don't want a skirt  that ends above my ankles, but I don't want it to drag on the ground either. This skirt is one of my favorite thrift finds and I wore it last here.  Last time I posted it, I wore it with a plain white tee, but I am really trying to work on mixing prints and I must say that I love it with this J.Crew pink gingham shirt.

The Graphic Tee

Hello everyone! If you wonder why I have been on a hiatus, I went to awesome Disney World for spring break. I must say to all the Floridians, I loved your weather this past week. I actually got a little sun on my clear body. My family and I had the best time, but now I am back! This post is on the graphic tee. A graphic tee can be worn dressed up or down. Spring Blazer

Oh thank goodness it's Wednesday! I can't wait for spring break. I know your are surprised by another black and white combo, but I just can't get enough. To help me transition into spring, I paired this outfit with my Ovi blazer to get a pop of color and who are we kidding- warmth. This post has a couple of "musts" for spring. One is you need that go to white t-shirt. A shirt that is not to loose or to tight and can be put with anything for a great look. Another is white pumps, I have seen a few blogger friends wear these and I have been dying to get a pair. I stumbled upon these Charlotte Russe white pumps at the consignment shop and knew they were meant for me. Lastly, for spring try a different style of pant that is not in your comfort zone. I usually tend to stick with the same type of pant ,but I love these Harlem Pants from Forever 21. These babies are so comfortable, but stylish.
