Something Comparable

 

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I have a few topics to discuss in this post. In this post, I am wearing my BCBG black pumps I recently thrifted. Lately, I find myself  more attracted to very pointed pumps. Some of my friends have asked me how I clean my shoes that I get from the thrift store. First, I use a Clorox wipe to wipe them inside and out. Then, I use Lysol and spray the inside of the shoes.  When I buy thrifted shoes I try to buy new or almost new shoes. You would be amazed at what people donate just to get stuff out of their house to get organized.
My second topic to discuss are where to find a comparable piece to that a high end piece you are dying for. Two sites I like to use are Polyvore  and Shopstyle. These sites will give you many options from multiple stores for the item you are looking for. One option I found was my Forever 21 lace shirt I am wearing in this post.

Adding a little oomph

 I hope everyone is having a great week and now it's even closer to the weekend. For this post, to add a little oomph to my Forever 21 Maxi dress by layering it with my Forever 21 citron faux leather jacket. The temperatures have been a little inconsistent to start off the spring, so this jacket was a great option with this dress. I would call myself a little of a weather "freak". I check my weather app at least a couple times a day, because I want me and my kids to be dress (weather temps) appropriately. This spring there are so many great colored leather or faux leather jackets at some really great price points. I plan on using this jacket for many seasons. Besides the fabulous color, other details I love about this jacket are the quilted pattern and zipper embellishments.

Feels Like a Maxi Monday

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine went by so fast that I am not sure I really had one. So, when I woke up this morning it felt like a Maxi Monday. A maxi skirt is one of my go to pieces when the weather gets warm. It is comfortable and stylish. I think the maxi skirt looks great on all body types. One detail that is important to me when I am purchasing a maxi is its length. I don't want a skirt  that ends above my ankles, but I don't want it to drag on the ground either. This skirt is one of my favorite thrift finds and I wore it last here.  Last time I posted it, I wore it with a plain white tee, but I am really trying to work on mixing prints and I must say that I love it with this J.Crew pink gingham shirt.

I also added my new vintage bracelet that I got for a steal at $3.99. Nothing says spring more than a floral bracelet.

Garage Salespiration

Happy Friday! Nothing makes more excited than garage sale season. Warm weather means people bring out their junk, I mean treasures. If you live anywhere close to Ohio, one of my favorites is German Village's Valuables Sale that is coming on May 18, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Another one of my favorites in Victorian Village, Columbus, OH on June 1, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. I have gone to these communities sales for years and am never disappointed. I always seem to get something unique. Garage sales are just like any other shopping before you go you need to have an idea of what you are looking for. I have a few things in mind for this year. One characteristic you may notice throughout my items are they all have a vintage feel, which is perfect for garage sales. So, we will have to see after my sales what I come up with!

Tanking it

Hello Wednesday! For this post, I want to talk about the under layer of an outfit (besides our essentials) - the tank! I tend to always layer my clothing, even in warm weather. I find that the mornings in the spring start off chilly, so my under layer of my outfit usually involves a tank top or cami. An alternative to the tank or cami is a bandeau. I recently have purchased seamless bandeau's , which are comfortable they feel as if you are wearing nothing. The best thing for me about blogging is actually seeing my outfits in a photo.There is something more a photo gives you than the mirror. If you don't have a friend around to ask, "Should I wear this?", then take a photo of yourself. I actually wore the outfit in the second photo during the day, but after seeing the first photo I prefer to have the tank tucked as shown in the first photo. Without the blazer I prefer the tank out, its all about what style you are wanting clean, crisp or more relaxed.

Seize the Day

Happy Monday! The posts are getting later because my KIDS are living outside. I just took my son to his well check appointment today and they were going through all the questions. Then, the question about how much TV came up and is he active? I said, I have to beg him to sit down and watch TV!!I myself am loving the weather and am not complaining at all. This post is dedicated again to the graphic t-shirt. Last Monday, my graphic t-shirt was the Ramone's rock t-shirt. Graphic t-shirts can be as simple as this oldie but goodie, J.Crew Seize Il Giorno shirt. In Italian this phrase means "seize the day". I think my graphic t-shirts definitely reflect my outlook for the day. This tells everyone I pumped for a new day and doing it stylishly. I paired this shirt with my thrifted H&M animal printed pants and my black converse for a more relaxed look.

Not enough hours in a day

Now that I am back from spring break vacation and I am trying to get back in the swing of things. It's tough to prioritize what to get done. Such as "Do I blog or do I unpack the suitcases in the living room?" So, I decided to blog, because I think it is important to take time for yourself. Plus, those suitcases will always be there tomorrow. I used to be kind of a "freak" about trying to get everything done, but then I had kids. Now I make it a point to have "me" time. Whether for you it is exercising, reading a book, crafting, watching your favorite t-show, you need time. The balancing act is hard and sometimes I think there are not enough hours in the day. For this post, I took a short walk, but it was a great way to enjoy the first signs of spring.

The Graphic Tee

Hello everyone! If you wonder why I have been on a hiatus, I went to awesome Disney World for spring break. I must say to all the Floridians, I loved your weather this past week. I actually got a little sun on my clear body. My family and I had the best time, but now I am back! This post is on the graphic tee. A graphic tee can be worn dressed up or down. In this post, I am sporting my "Ramones" t-shirt.  When selecting a graphic tee make sure you select one that reflects your personality or interests.
