Drop it like it's ....

Happy Wednesday. Well, it's hot lately, but I love it. This past Monday, I was able to have breakfast with two of my friends. I was happy to have a reason to get dressed. It seems in the summer if I am not in my bathing suit at the pool, I am wearing lounge wear. So, for breakfast I wore this F21 Drop Waist Dress. The best thing about summer weather is having the ability to throw on a dress and some shoes and go.  I purchased this dress online and one thing I appreciate offered by online stores are giving the models height with each piece of merchandise. The model that had this dress on was 5 10'. I am 5 '4 and when I saw that his dress was barely below her model's back area, then I knew for me it would be right above my knee. Turned out to be perfect!

Do you like when you are ordering online to know the model's height of the item you want to order?

Put a little muscle into it

Hello everyone. I hope you had a great weekend. I have two loves in this post. One is this Leigh Foil Muscle shirt  from Nordstrom. I think this would be a great DIY to complete, the only tip I would give is get a smaller shirt. I was drawn to the silver flecks in this shirt. The second love in this post are my leather wrap around bracelets. I can't get enough of them. They are a great accessory for the summer and are available at all price ranges.

Also, I wanted to let you know that Google sent me an email informing me that my GFC foloowers will be removed soon. That is where I get to see all of your faces. So, I went ahead and took it off my blog. If you would like to continue to read my posts then use Bloglovin , Google +, or email. I hope you do!

Friday Frugality- End Table Makeover

Happy Friday! This Friday's find was a thrifted. My mom found these two end tables at the thrift store for $8.99 each. They both had great character and no structural work needed. This project is simple, but can make a big change.

First, I did not like the original walnut color, so I decided to paint the end table. I chose to do a two-tone color. I liked the original hardware and you would not be able to see the hardware on the brown paint. Both of these paint colors I already had from previous projects.

Second,  I knew I wanted this piece to have some character. I loved this clock print  stencil from Hobby Lobby for $2.98. There are so many unique and modern stencils available. For the stencil, tape it down and lightly brush your paint. Make sure to wipe the back every time you reuse the stencil, so you will not have smudging.

Third, put hardware back on your piece and voila we are finished.

With a little paint and less than $25.00, you can transform your end tables into something with some character. I hope everyone has a great Happy Father's Day weekend.

Say It Out Loud

Hi, I hope everyone is having a great week. I recently purchased this H&M graphic tee at a resale shop and I must say it spoke to me. Sometimes were reminded that being creative and unique draw negativity from some folks.  Sometimes the looks I get are unbelievable and vibe is so negative it's hard to hide. My message is simple, be yourself by expressing whatever makes you happy, and if you get a "stink eye" look in a unique outfit... kill 'em with kindness with an expressive smile. That smile will say everything without saying it out loud.

Date Night

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend. This weekend my man and I were lucky to have quick date night. This usually involves one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. I think it's important to spend time with your significant other without the rugrats, even if it's for an hour. I always tell my kids, because of course they want to go with us, that before they came along it was mom and dad, and it will be that way when they leave. We often get so wrapped up in family things that you forget to take a moment for yourselves. So, this is what I wore on our date. It was a little chillier at night, so I paired my new leggings(no tag), that I consigned, with my Rubbish cream shirt.

Revamp that Vintage Graphic Tee

Hi everybody,  sorry I have been MIA for awhile. There is a lot going on and unfortunately sometimes my blog is at the bottom of my to do list (when really if I had my choice it would be high up there). One thing that has happened is my hot water tank went out. Nothing makes you appreciate hot water more than having to heat it up on the stove to take a bath. I never realized how big bath tubs really are. I was so lucky to have someone in my life that could help my family with this problem and I couldn't thank them enough. For this post, my focus is to give your vintage tee a new spin.  Many years ago I  purchased this shirt at a store that focused on taking vintage items and giving them new life. Unfortunately this store is no longer around, so I definitely think this is a great DIY. The sleeves are cut in a half circle shape and then elastic is used to gather around the arms. My favorite detail of the shirt, is the sleeve design is mirrored on the front and the back. Also, the elastic makes a slight ruffle which gives the t-shirt a feminine feel.

Do you ever take vintage clothes and give them a new spin?
