Back to School Shopping

Hi everyone, I started back to work this past week. So, between that and getting the kids back to school items there wasn't anytime for blogging. My kids had a great time picking out school supplies.  My son is so pumped that he is getting his own desk in first grade and doesn't have to sit at table like in kindergarten.  I love at his age it's about the little things. To start the school year off, I always buy my kids new school shoes, but I have trouble with starting in middle August buying a lot of new clothes. Most of the stores are selling their fall merchandise, but it is still to hot for these clothes. So, I buy a few items that can transition into the fall with them. I wore this outfit on one of our school shopping excursions. One of my favorite outfits includes a pair of worn out skinny jeans with a simple white tee. I paired it with a cute Peter-pan style necklace that my mother-in-law gave me for Christmas. For you ladies that commented that you loved seeing my eyes, this photo is for you. Even though it was overcast my eyes are so sensitive. So, you can just call me squinty.

Friday Finds- Leather

Happy Friday everyone. For this Friday's finds, the focus is leather for fall. I will be focusing on fall trends in my future posts. Then, you will have time to find these trends in your price point and a few thrifters may even get lucky enough at the thrift store. I actually came across this dress on my husband and I 's past trip to Indianapolis. It is designed by Max Studio and was in the clearance for $20.00 at Marshall's. I took it over to my husband to ask if he liked it and he said,"the 80's are calling". I told him this leather dress would be great for the fall and he says, "alright Pat Benatar."  So, I knew this dress was for for me, who doesn't love to have that LBD on hand.

A little getaway

Hi, I hope everyone had a great weekend. You might notice I have a new hair color. I must say it's different, but I love it.  This post has to do with attire when you are traveling.  Especially when the traveling includes a lengthy car ride. I like to feel comfortable and still stylish in case we stop along the way. My go to travel outfit includes a knit top and maxi skirt.  I want something that is travel friendly and won't wrinkle. Both of these items I snagged at Marshalls.

This past week my husband and I went to Indianapolis to see a Chelsea soccer game. You might remember that we went to a game last summer in NYC. I think its great that they have International soccer teams come and play in America.  While we were in Indianapolis, we stayed at The Canterbury Hotel, which was built in 1928. It is a very quaint hotel in the middle of the city, so we were able to park and walk to the stadium, restaurants, and shopping.  

The game was fabulous, we got to see all of our favorite players in the match and we won! We had the best time, just getting away for a short time.

Androgyny

Hello everyone. I hope everyone is having a great week. Androgyny is when your style combines masculine and feminine characteristics. This will definitely be a trend that you will see this fall.  This fall, androgyny will be present in women's style by wearing shoes mirroring men's footwear.  I think androgyny gives your feminine outfits a little edge. In this post, I took this Forever 21 floral dress and showcased two ways , the first feminine and the second an androgyny style.

Happy Monday! I only have a few more happy Mondays then it's back to the grind. Until then I am trying to enjoy every minute. Stripes are one of my favorite patterns because they can be combined with many types of patterns.  I wore this Forever 21 tunic the other day and it was great when it was hot, but when it got a little cooler at night, I paired it with my AE boyfriend jeans. I don't know about you guys, but I feel the best when I am wearing a pair of jeans. I think I would wear jeans everyday if I could. I have also been on the lookout for a dressier flip flop and I was happy to come across these Mossimo flip flops at Target.

DIY : Globe Earring Holder

Hello everyone, happy Friday.  Many of you know I am a fan of vintage and displaying my jewelry in unique ways. So, when I came across this globe at a garage sale I wanted to use it in the decor of my house. I looked on Pinterest, but nothing struck my fancy. After days of thinking, I came up with using the globe to display my earrings.  It is the same concept of an earring tree and it is a very easy project to complete.

Materials needed for this project are a globe, drill, drill bit, silver spray paint, dark stain, paper towel and earrings.

First, I took the globe off and painted the piece that holds the globe silver with silver spray paint. 

Second, I wanted the globe to have more of a vintage feel. I put dark stain on a paper towel and wet it down with a few drops of water. Then, I  rubbed this power towel all over globe. You probably want to wear gloves unlike me!

Third, take your drill and make holes about 2  1/2 inches to 3 inches apart.

 I made 30 holes, this will vary depending on the size of the globe.

Fourth, place your earrings through the holes in the globe. Obviously this only works with earrings that have a hook on the end, but if you have many like me, this project will be great.

Mission accomplished, my jewelry is displayed and is easily accessible.

Two for one!

Happy Wednesday! I bought this little number at the beginning of summer. I actually had been wanting a leopard maxi skirt, but this wasn't an easy find. Don't get me wrong there were some available, but not all animal print works. Sometimes certain animal print can look cheap.  So, when I came across this leopard maxi dress at Forever 21 I knew it could serve two purposes as a dress and a skirt. The dress is something I would wear out, but the dress styled as skirt I will wear to work.  This dress can be transformed into a skirt because it is has a halter tie. I just folded the top part down underneath and voila into a skirt. This is a great piece and will be used well into the fall.
